During your visit you hear about how the life of the people of Steyr was influenced by the rivers Enns and Steyr. Water supply (such as fountains or watering places, places for washing etc.) is another interesting aspect of a medieval city such as Steyr. These places were also important locations where information was exchanged.
Water can also be seen as the economic source of wealth of the city. Iron and wood were transported on the rivers into the city and with the help of the water these materials were transformed into high quality products.
Another aspect in history concerning water are the inondations, we had and have to live with. During the visit you also hear how people learned to live and to handle high water and inondation during the centuries.
